Additive Manufacturing - 3D Printing

Hybrid in-person and video talk by Zsofia Keszei, Purdue University

Thursday March 14, 2024

Additive manufacturing is a developing way of fabrication that builds parts up layer by layer instead of carving them out or molding them into shape like other manufacturing processes. One aspect of it, 3D printing, is very accessible to the average person.

3D printing has come a long way since its inception. What began as a way to add layers of plastics to each other to create different shapes on demand has evolved into a sophisticated technology that can create airplane parts, biological organs and full rocket engines.
